Can I run the code in the notebook here?

No. This page shows the notebook, including the outputs saved from its last run, but runs nothing. To run it, open it in Jupyter, JupyterLab, VS Code or Google Colab.

Why is a plot or widget missing?

Only outputs saved in the file can be shown. A notebook saved without running, or with its outputs cleared, has none, and interactive widgets and some charting libraries need the running notebook to draw anything at all.

Is it safe to open a notebook from someone else here?

Yes. Code in the notebook is never run, scripts in its outputs are removed, and its text and tables are cleaned before they are shown. Pictures linked from the web are held back until you load them.

Is my notebook uploaded?

No. The file is read by this browser tab on your own device, which matters when a notebook holds data or results that are not yours to share.

Free online IPYNB viewer: open Jupyter notebooks without Jupyter

Open a .ipynb notebook and read it as it was saved, with its text, maths, code, tables and plots, without installing Python or Jupyter. The file is opened in your browser and is not uploaded.

Drop a .ipynb file here, or click to choose oneIt is opened by your browser, on this computer. Nothing is uploaded.

About the IPYNB viewer

An .ipynb file is a Jupyter notebook: text, code and the results of running that code, kept together. Data scientists, students and researchers share them, and opening one normally means installing Python and Jupyter, or uploading it to an online service. This page shows it straight from the file, as it was when it was last saved.

Nothing in the notebook is run. What you see are the outputs the notebook saved. It is free to use, with no account and no upload limit, and it runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and it keeps working offline once it has loaded.

What you can do

Read the notebook's text, headings, lists, tables and links
See maths written in LaTeX typeset properly, inline and displayed
See each code cell with its run number, and its saved outputs: printed text, tables (such as pandas DataFrames), plots and pictures, and errors
Hide the code to read just the text and results
Pictures attached to Markdown cells are shown; pictures linked from the web wait until you choose to load them
Works with notebooks in any language: Python, R, Julia and others

How to open an IPYNB file

Drop the .ipynb file on the box above, or click the box and choose it.
The notebook appears below, cell by cell.
Untick Show code to read only the text and the results.
