Free CAD, 3D, map and design tools

View CAD drawings, 3D models, medical scans, GPS routes and fonts, and make diagrams, QR codes and barcodes, in your browser.

Drawings, models, scans and routes tend to come in formats only expensive or specialist software opens: a DWG from an architect, a STEP file from a supplier, a CD of scans from a hospital, a .fit file from a watch. These viewers open them in your browser, on any computer, with nothing uploaded.

The DWG and DXF Viewer opens CAD drawings without AutoCAD - layers, measurements and all - and converts DWG to DXF. The 3D Model Viewer opens GLB, GLTF, FBX, OBJ, STL, PLY, 3MF and DAE models and converts them to GLB, STL, OBJ or USDZ, the SketchUp Viewer opens .skp models and converts them to GLB, OBJ or STL, and the STEP & IGES Viewer opens the CAD models engineers swap between SolidWorks, Fusion 360 and the rest, with its assembly tree and a conversion to STL. The DICOM Viewer shows the CT, MRI and X-ray scans a hospital hands over on a disc, slice by slice.

The GPX Viewer maps tracks off a watch or handheld GPS, along with KML, KMZ, GeoJSON and shapefiles, and the FIT Viewer opens the activity files Garmin, Wahoo and Coros devices record, with heart rate, pace and laps. Both draw their map from OpenStreetMap tiles, which tells openstreetmap.org the area being shown; untick the map to avoid that.

For making things, the Diagram Toolkit draws Mermaid diagrams from text, Board Studio is a drag-and-drop whiteboard for when the diagram has no regular structure, the QR Code Generator & Scanner makes codes for a URL, a Wi-Fi network or a contact card, and the Barcode Generator covers EAN, UPC, Code 128 and more. The Font Viewer shows a font's glyphs, metrics and the embedding permissions recorded inside it, the Font Converter turns fonts between TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2, and the Color Converter moves a colour between HEX, RGB and HSL, builds palettes and checks text contrast against WCAG. All free, with no account.
