Which PageMaker versions does it open?

Publications saved by PageMaker 6.0, 6.5 and 7.0 (.pmd, .p65, .pm6). Files from PageMaker 5 and earlier, with extensions like .pm5 or .pm4, use an older format the reader does not cover.

How do I convert a PageMaker file to PDF?

Open it here and choose Save as PDF: every page goes into one PDF with selectable text. Fonts your computer lacks are replaced by similar ones, so check the line breaks before printing.

Can InDesign open a PMD file?

Versions of InDesign that include its PageMaker converter open PageMaker 6.0 to 7.0 publications with File, Open; it is a paid subscription. For reading, printing or keeping a copy, the PDF made here is enough.

Is my publication uploaded anywhere?

No. It is read and drawn in your browser by a copy of the reader served from this site.

About this PageMaker viewer

Adobe PageMaker was the desktop publishing program of the 1980s and 1990s - newsletters, flyers, reports, menus and church bulletins were laid out in it - and Adobe stopped it in 2004, pointing users to InDesign. PageMaker does not run on current macOS, and InDesign's PageMaker converter covered only versions 6.0 to 7.0, so a .pmd or .p65 file from an old archive or a former colleague usually cannot be opened at all.

This page reads the publication with libpagemaker, the open-source PageMaker reader LibreOffice Draw uses, compiled to run in your browser, and draws each page: text, lines, rectangles, ellipses, polygons and pictures. Save it as a PDF to print or keep, a page as SVG to edit the shapes, or the text to reuse it. The file is never uploaded. It is free to use, with no account and no upload limit, and it runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and while the page stays open, a feature you have already used keeps working offline.
