Will the editable slides look exactly like the PDF pages?

Close, but not exactly: the text is set again by your presentation program in a common font matched to the PDF's, so lines can come out a little longer or shorter and a word can move to the next line. Everything that is not text stays as it was, because it is a picture behind the text boxes. Text drawn as shapes, most text filled with a pattern, and turned (rotated) text stay part of that picture. When the slides must look exactly like the pages, choose Exact look.

Can it convert a scanned PDF to editable PowerPoint slides?

A scan has no text, only a picture of the page, so its pages become picture slides and their text cannot be edited. Run the scan through the OCR Toolkit to read the text first; a scan with an invisible OCR layer still gives picture slides here, but its text can go into the speaker notes.

Why does it refuse my locked PDF?

A PDF that needs a password to open cannot be read here. If you are allowed to, remove the password with Unlock PDF and convert the unlocked copy. A PDF that opens without a password is converted.

Is there a limit on pages or files?

Up to 500 pages from each PDF and 20 PDFs at a time, all done in your browser's memory. Very large pages are drawn at a lower resolution so a page stays within what a browser can hold; if a long PDF runs out of memory, choose a lower quality or a page range.

Is my PDF uploaded to make the slides?

No. The PDF is read and the PowerPoint file is made in your browser, on your computer. Nothing is sent to a server.

About this PDF to PowerPoint converter

The well-known PDF to PowerPoint converters upload your file and allow only a couple of free conversions a day. This one reads the PDF and builds the PowerPoint file in your browser, with no daily limit. It is free to use, with no account and no upload limit, and it runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and while the page stays open, a feature you have already used keeps working offline.

It makes two kinds of slides. Exact look turns each page into a picture slide, so it looks exactly like the PDF but the text cannot be edited. Editable text draws each page again without its text and makes that the slide's background (pictures, shapes, colours and lines), then puts the text on top in real text boxes, where it sat on the page: lines that belong together share a box, split into paragraphs, with the size, bold, italic, colour and alignment kept. Fonts are matched to common ones (Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri, Courier New and so on), so the text can sit a little differently from the PDF; each box is left slightly wider than its text to allow for that.
