Question 1

What is the difference between CBR and CBZ?

Accepted Answer

Only the kind of archive holding the pages: CBZ is a ZIP and CBR is a RAR. The pages inside are the same pictures, usually JPEG or PNG. Many files named .cbr are really ZIPs; this page goes by what the file is, not its name, so either way it opens.

Question 2

Why will a CBR not open here?

Accepted Answer

The usual reasons are a password (RAR encryption cannot be opened here), a file that is one part of a multi-part RAR, or a download that stopped part-way. A comic of more than 1 GB is also too big to unpack in a browser tab.

Question 3

Can I read manga right to left?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Press Left to right to switch it to Right to left: the arrow keys, the page buttons and the slider then run the way the book does. A manga whose ComicInfo.xml marks it as right to left opens that way by itself.

Question 4

Does it remember where I stopped reading?

Accepted Answer

No. Nothing about the comic is stored, so reopening it starts at the first page; use the slider to jump back to where you were.

Question 5

Is my comic uploaded?

Accepted Answer

No. The archive is unpacked by this browser tab on your own device, and the pages never leave it.
