Can I convert XPS to PDF?

Yes, with the XPS to PDF converter, which keeps the pages as vectors, with their fonts and searchable text, and can convert just some pages.

Why is a picture in my document a grey box?

It is stored as JPEG XR (also called HD Photo or .wdp), an image format some XPS documents use that no web browser can decode. Everything else on the page is shown.

Does it open .oxps files too?

Yes. OpenXPS (.oxps) is the standardised version of XPS that Windows 8 and later write, and it opens here the same way.

Is my XPS file uploaded?

No. The document is read and drawn by this browser tab with this site's own XPS reader; nothing is sent anywhere.

About the XPS viewer

An .xps file is a document in Microsoft's XML Paper Specification, a fixed-layout format like PDF. Windows makes one whenever something is printed to Microsoft XPS Document Writer, and Windows 8 and later write the standardised form, OpenXPS, as .oxps. Windows 10 stopped installing the XPS Viewer in 2018, and Macs, phones and tablets never had one, so an XPS file that arrives by email often cannot be opened at all.

This page reads the document itself and draws each page as it was laid out, text in the document's own embedded fonts, shapes, gradients and pictures, so it stays sharp at any zoom. The text can be searched across the whole document, selected and copied. It is free to use, with no account and no upload limit, and it runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and while the page stays open, a feature you have already used keeps working offline.
