Is the preview the full photo?

Usually it is full size, the JPEG the camera would have saved, with its colour and sharpening settings. A few cameras and most phones save only a small preview; the page says so when that happens. The raw data itself holds more detail and range than the preview, and needs a raw developer such as Lightroom, darktable or RawTherapee to bring out.

Why does my RAW photo look different in Lightroom?

Lightroom and other editors develop the raw data with their own colour settings, while this page shows the camera's own JPEG preview. Neither is wrong; they are two developments of the same shot.

Can I convert RAW to JPG here?

You can save the camera's own JPEG preview, unchanged. Developing the raw data into a new JPEG, with your own adjustments, needs a raw editor.

Are my RAW files uploaded anywhere?

No. The raw file is read by this browser tab on your own device; nothing is sent anywhere.

About the RAW photo viewer

A raw photo is what a camera's sensor recorded, before it was turned into a JPEG. Canon saves them as .cr2 or .cr3, Nikon as .nef, Sony as .arw, Fujifilm as .raf, Olympus as .orf, Panasonic as .rw2, Pentax as .pef, and many cameras and phones as .dng. Most computers and phones cannot show them without photo editing software.

Every camera also saves a ready-made JPEG preview inside the raw file, usually at full size, for its own screen. This page finds that preview and shows it, with the camera's settings. It is free to use, with no account and no upload limit, and it runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and once you have used it, it keeps working offline.
