Why does the picture say it is approximate?

Photoshop saves a ready-made picture of the finished image only when Maximize Compatibility is turned on, which it is by default. When it was turned off, this page lays the visible layers over each other itself. That is close for simple files, but blend modes, layer effects such as shadows, and adjustment layers are not applied, so it can look different from Photoshop.

Can it open CMYK Photoshop files?

No. Files set up for commercial print in CMYK colour cannot be read here yet, and the page says so rather than showing the wrong colours. RGB and greyscale files, which most screen and web designs are, open normally.

Can I edit the PSD here?

No, this page only shows it. To change the layers you need Photoshop, or a free editor such as GIMP or Photopea.

Are my designs uploaded?

About the PSD viewer

A .psd file is a Photoshop document, and .psb is its large-document version. Designers send them for logos, mock-ups, social graphics and print artwork, and stock sites sell templates in the format. Opening one normally takes Photoshop, a subscription, or a heavy editor such as GIMP; on a phone or a Chromebook there is usually nothing at all.

This page reads the file and shows the finished image, then lists the layers the way Photoshop's Layers panel does, top first, so you can check what a designer has sent or find the words on a text layer. It is free to use, with no account and no upload limit, and it runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and it keeps working offline once it has loaded.
