About the Sketch file viewer

Sketch is a design app for websites and apps, and .sketch is its file. Sketch runs only on a Mac, so a .sketch file sent to someone on Windows, a Chromebook or a phone cannot be opened at all, and a developer, client or writer who only needs to see what is in it would otherwise need a Mac and a Sketch subscription.

Since 2017 a .sketch file has been a package of the design's parts: a preview picture, every page with its artboards and layers, and the images placed in the design. This page reads all of those. It is free to use, with no account and no upload limit, and it runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and while the page stays open, a feature you have already used keeps working offline.

What this viewer shows, and what it does not

It does not draw the artboards themselves, which are Sketch's own vector drawings. Files from Sketch 42 and earlier, saved before 2017 in an older format, are not read; the page says so.
