Does it keep my print area and page setup?

Yes. If a sheet has a print area, only that is printed; its paper size, orientation, margins and fit-to-page or scaling are used as set in Excel, and rows set as print titles repeat at the top of every page. Any of these can be changed on the page before saving.

What is not included?

Charts, pictures, shapes, comments and conditional formatting are not drawn, and headers and footers are not printed. Where the browser breaks pages can differ slightly from Excel's own breaks, apart from the page breaks you set by hand, which are kept.

Why does it use the print window?

Printing to PDF from the browser makes a PDF whose text can be selected, searched and copied, at any zoom, with the fonts on your computer. Choose "Save as PDF" (or "Microsoft Print to PDF") as the printer.

Is my spreadsheet uploaded?

No. The workbook is read and laid out in your browser, and the PDF is made on your computer. Nothing is sent to a server.

About this Excel to PDF converter

Excel files often need to go out as PDFs - invoices, timesheets, price lists, reports - and online converters want the workbook uploaded first. This one lays the workbook out in your browser exactly as its print settings say and saves the PDF through the browser's own print dialog, so the text in the PDF stays real, searchable text. It is free to use, with no account and no upload limit, and it runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and while the page stays open, a feature you have already used keeps working offline.

The values are read with SheetJS and shown as Excel formats them - currencies, percentages, dates. The print settings and formatting are read from the workbook itself: each sheet's print area, paper size and orientation, margins, fit to page or scaling, print titles repeated at the top of every page, manual page breaks, gridlines, merged cells, column widths and row heights, and every cell's font, colour, fill, borders and alignment.

How to convert Excel to PDF

Drop the workbook onto the page. Each sheet appears as it will print.
Untick any sheets you do not want, and change the paper, orientation or fit if you like.
Press Save as PDF and choose Save as PDF in the print window.
