Slides as pictures are what you need to post a presentation on social media or a website, put slides into a document or a video, send them in a chat, or show them on a phone or TV that has no PowerPoint. This page draws each slide from the file - text in its boxes with its fonts and colours, shapes, pictures, tables, charts and backgrounds - and saves the pictures: a PPT to JPG and PPTX to JPG converter, and a PPT to PNG one when you choose PNG.
- JPG or PNG for slides?
- JPG makes smaller files and suits slides with photos; it is saved at quality 92. PNG is lossless, so text, lines and flat colours stay perfectly crisp, which suits text-heavy slides, diagrams and logos, but the files are larger. Both have the slide's own background.
- What size are the pictures?
- As wide as you choose, with the slide's own shape: a 16:9 slide at 1920 pixels is 1920 × 1080, a 4:3 slide is 1920 × 1440. 1920 suits screens, posts and documents; 3840 is for print or zooming in. A slide whose picture would pass 16.7 million pixels, the most a phone can draw, is made a little smaller, and the page says so.
- Will the slides look exactly as in PowerPoint?
- Close for most presentations: text, shapes, pictures, tables and backgrounds come out as designed. A font this device does not have is replaced by a similar one; pictures in EMF or WMF format appear as a labelled box; some chart types are drawn more simply; a video becomes a dark box marked Video, and animations and transitions are not shown, since a picture shows each slide as it finally looks.
- Can I convert an old .ppt file to JPG?
- Yes. PowerPoint 97-2003 files (.ppt, .pps, .pot) are read by the site's own reader and drawn the same way as .pptx. Files from PowerPoint 95 and earlier are not read, and neither are presentations protected with a password.
- How do I convert PowerPoint to JPG on a phone?
- Open this page in Safari or Chrome, tap the box and pick the presentation from Files or Downloads. The ZIP of pictures is saved to Files or Downloads, where the Files app opens it. A long deck at 4K needs a lot of memory, so on a phone 1920 pixels works best.
- Are my slides uploaded?
- No. The presentation is read, drawn and turned into pictures in this browser tab on your device; nothing is sent to this site or anywhere else.
To make a PDF of the slides instead, with searchable text, handouts or notes pages, use PowerPoint to PDF. Word documents go the same way with Word to JPG, and the pictures can be made smaller with the Image Toolkit.
