Is the wheel really random?

Yes. The winner is chosen before the wheel starts, by the browser's crypto.getRandomValues, with every entry equally likely, and the wheel is then turned to stop on it, at a random point inside its slice. How long it spins, and where it started, make no difference to the odds.

How do I pick names without the same person twice?

Tick "Remove the winner after each spin". Each winner is taken off the wheel and the list as soon as it is picked, so the next spin is between the people left. Save the full list first if you want to use it again.

Where are my lists saved?

In your browser's storage on this device: the current entries, your options and any lists you save. They are not sent anywhere and are not on other devices. A private window, or a browser set to clear site data, forgets them when it closes; the page still works, but lists last only until you leave it.

Can I use it on a classroom projector or whiteboard?

Yes. Press Full screen to show just the wheel, the Spin button and the winner, as large as the screen allows; press Exit full screen or Esc to go back. Full screen is not offered where the browser does not allow it, such as Safari on iPhone; there, turn the phone sideways for a bigger wheel.

Does the wheel work with sound off or with reduced motion?

Yes. With Sound unticked it spins silently. If your device is set to reduce motion, the wheel goes straight to the winner instead of spinning, and the result is announced the same way.

About this wheel spinner

A spin-the-wheel random picker: type or paste a list of names, numbers or choices, one per line, and spin. The wheel slows to a stop and the entry under the pointer at the top wins. Use it as a random name picker in a classroom, to draw a giveaway winner, to choose who goes first, or to settle what to have for dinner.

Every spin is decided by your browser's cryptographic random number generator, the one used for passwords and keys, and every entry has an equal chance. To give one choice more chances, put it on the list more than once. There are no accounts, adverts on the wheel or links to share: your lists are kept in this browser on this device, if it allows the page to save, and nowhere else. It is free to use, with no account and no upload limit, and it runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, and while the page stays open, a feature you have already used keeps working offline.
